Greater Houston Joomla User Group - speaker Robbie AdairI will be doing an online presentation for the NY, CT, NJ TriState Area Joomla User Group. I will be doing my Building Custom Applications with Fabrik presentation.

Summary of the presentation:
Can’t find a component to fit your needs? Fabrik gives you the ability to go well beyond just making custom forms. We’ll look at some of the basic capabilities and then build a small custom application in real time.

Greater Houston Joomla User Group - speaker Robbie AdairWe had a good turn out last night for the Greater Houston Joomla User Group at the Kendall Library.

I did a brief Farbik presentation on using Content Types to quickly deploy layouts from one site to another and not have to re-invent the wheel.

Doug also gave us some tips on Akeeba AdminTools, it was a good meeting, and we hope the JUG continues to grow.

Joomla Day Florida - speaker Robbie AdairJoomla Day Florida's first year was a great success! I met lots of new people and caught up with other Joomla friends. My Going Further with Fabrik presentation was well received and had very good questions at the end.

This was the description of what we covered: Take your Fabrik application to the next level by using more advanced features such as element javascript options, the calc element, cascading dropdowns, Joomla ACL, and customizing view templates.

Hats off to Jay, he did a bang up job on his first JDay! Looking forward to next year.

zendcon2015I had a great time working the Joomla! booth at ZendCon - The Global PHP Conference at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas this last week. It was exciting to talk with developers about the trends and the upcoming features and enhancements in PHP7 and MySQL 5.7. The conference was a good opportunity to meet other Joomla! users that I don't normally see at the JoomlaDays, as well as, introduce some people to Joomla! and encourage more people to join the community.

The conference itself was full of great sessions and was well organized. The sponsor booths also has challenges to earn your shirt and PHP7 elephants, so it made the booth area much more interactive.
